I am not your average fantasy football Joe, I am a Joe of many hats. A 'Joe for all seasons' and today I will don the fantasy football scientist hat/coat and dissect the first 5 rounds of a real money dynasty fantasy football draft occuring right now on iCon Fantasy Sports. This will be a great tool for you to use as you formulate your own winning strategy for current and future iCon dynasty leagues. Together we will learn the values of dynasty players as I track and review all 20 rounds of this slow draft, giving you my analysis of the teams as we go.

The teams shall be listed as Teams A-L  for anonymity and future draft strategy sake (afterall money is involved and we will be running dynasty drafts on site all summer).

I will be giving my 'quick thoughts' on some of the early picks and then hypothesize about the future of these teams rosters.

What is at stake?

It was $50 to enter and there are $450 in prizes.

>>5 Spots Left In A $100 Dynasty League<<

Round 1

Team A

1.1 Doug Martin - The best dynasty RB on the board, period.

Team B

1.2 AJ Green

Team C

1.3 Trent Richardson - Injuries are his only concern, which is why i take Martin over him.

Team D

1.4 Calvin Johnson - The #1 dynasty WR in my mind, belongs 1st or 2nd overall in this format.

Team E

1.5 C.J. Spiller

Team F

1.6 Adrian Peterson

Team G

1.7 Julio Jones - A little early for Julio with Jamal Charles still available.

Team H

1.8 Alfred Morris - Have to wonder if Jamal Charles would have been the better pick here.

Team I

1.9 Ray Rice

Team J

1.10 Dez Bryant

Team K

1.11 Jamal Charles - Criminal that he fell this far at a shallow position.

Team L

1.12 Arian Foster

ROUND 2

Team L

2.1 Marshawn Lynch

Team K

2.2 Lesean Mccoy - Another flat out steal for Team K, nice way to start his franchise build out.

Team J

2.3 Brandon Marshall

Team I

2.4 Chris Johnson - This is high for him even in re-draft format. He is getting older, but he should have a few more good years left at a shallow position

Team H

2.5 Matt Forte

Team G

2.6 David Wilson

Team F

2.7 Jimmy Graham

Team E

2.8 Demaryius Thomas - My only question is what happens after Peyton?

Team D

2.9 Percy Harvin

Team C

2.10 Darren Mcfadden  - High risk, high reward, even higher risk in this format, but still young and so explosive.

Team B

2.11 Randall Cobb - It's his team now. Youth, age, explosiveness and great Quarterbacking all work in his favor for the next 5+ seasons.

Team A

2.12 Steven Jackson

Round 3

Team A

3.1 Leveon Bell - Counters his "old man Sjax" pick with arguably the top rookie RB of the class.

Team B

3.2 Rob Gronkowski - More of a risk in re-draft formats because of his back surgery. So young, so talented, must stay healthy.

Team C

3.3 Larry Fitzgerald

Team D

3.4 Demarco Murray

Team E

3.5 Lamar Miller - He is growing on me by the day. He is a very valuable dynasty RB who starting for a team that has it's arrow pointing up.

Team F

3.6 Victor Cruz

Team G

3.7 Aaron Rodgers

Team H

3.8 Roddy White

Team I

3.9 Wes Welker - Love the player, but this is the area he gets selected in re-drafts and I feel that he should be docked a bit for his age. Ideally a 4th rounder

Team J

3.10 Reggie Bush

Team K

3.11 Jordy Nelson - I understand the pick, not so in love with the player.

Team L

3.12 Vincent Jackson

ROUND 4

Team L

4.1 Danny Amendola - Could have a very long and productive career in New England playing the Wes Welker role.

Team K

4.2 Andrew Luck

Team J

4.3 Stevan Ridley

Team I

4.4 Dwayne Bowe - Intriguing dynasty WR that will benefit from Reids pass happy system.

Team H

4.5 Cam Newton

Team G

4.6 Tavon Austin - Great spot for him, electric and will have a big time role from week 1.

Team F

4.7 Antonio Brown - Many other players were available that could have been scooped here, Antonio Brown is limited in upside.

Team E

4.8 Montee Ball - Questions about his long term upside as he comes to the NFL with a lot of mileage on his tires.

Team D

4.9 Giovani Bernard

Team C

4.10 Maurice Jones Drew

Team B

4.11 Aaron Hernandez -- Team B must be very concerned about the Aaron Hernandez news, my hunch is he will be fine this year as lawyers will delay.

Team A

4.12 Hakeem Nicks - Future in NY is cloudy at best, but his talent level is off the charts.

Round 5

Team A

5.1 Darren Sproles

Team B

5.2 Russell Wilson - Love the long term prospects of the player, felt like the team would have benefited more from selecting a RB.

Team C

5.3 Ryan Mathews

Team D

5.4 Eddie Lacy - Will be dealt a serious blow to his long-term value if Jonathan Franklin is as good as advertised.

Team E

5.5 Robert Griffin

Team F

5.6 Matthew Stafford

Team G

5.7 Andre Johnson

Team H

5.8 Vernon Davis - A bit too early for me as teams buy the "Crabtree is out so VD will explode" hype. I am selling that news unless the cost is reasonable.

Team I

5.9 Drew Brees

Team J

5.10 Eric Decker - He is hurt by the Welker acquisition, but he is still very talented and Peyton loves him.

Team K

5.11 Marques Colston

Team L

5.12 Colin Kaepernick - His upside is off the charts, losing Crabby for the year hurts, but he will still score his points regardless.

Team A

  • Doug Martin
  • Steven Jackson
  • Leveon Bell
  • Hakeem Nicks
  • Darren Sproles

A running back heavy team that is obviously banking on being able to find long term answers at WR in the middle rounds.

Team B

  • AJ Green
  • Randall Cobb
  • Rob Gronkowski
  • Aaron Hernandez
  • Russel Wilson

Taking a huge risk here building a squad with no running backs. Loved the A Hern and Gronk picks until news of Hernandez's connection to a homicide investigation. Stay tuned.

Team C

  • Trent Richardson
  • Darren Mcfadden
  • Larry Fitzgerald
  • Maurice Jones Drew
  • Ryan Mathews

Another runningback heavy team that will need to start stacking WRs for the long term in the middle rounds.

Team D

  • Calvin Johnson
  • Percy Harvin
  • Demarco Murray
  • Giovani Bernard
  • Eddie Lacy

Takes arguably the number 1 dynasty player overall in Calvin Johnson and comes back with the long term upside of Percy Harvin. Has youth, talent and upside at the RB spot too which signifies very nice start to a dynasty squad.

Team E

  • CJ Spiller
  • Demaryius Thomas
  • Lamar Miller
  • Montee Ball
  • Robert Griffin

Team E is killing this draft so far and if these 5 picks pan out like I believe they will, he will have a stud filled lineup for years to come. His squad does have some questions: What happens after Peyton Manning retires? Will Montee Ball's wear and tear affect him a few years from now? Will Griffin always be injured?

Team F

  • Adrian Peterson
  • Jimmy Graham
  • Victor Cruz
  • Antonio Brown
  • Matt Stafford

Admittedly Team F said they would make a few picks differently. AP and Graham will mask a ton of problems for them going forward. Cruz is a question mark until he signs long term with the Giants. Antonio Brown is young and should be a solid WR2 for years to come but his overall upside is limited. Matt Stafford will be a QB1 for the next 5-8 years.

Team G

  • Julio Jones
  • David Wilson
  • Aaron Rodgers
  • Tavon Austin
  • Andre Johnson

Excellent start to a dynasty team, will need a RB soon or he will struggle at that position unless David Wilson explodes this year.

Team H

  • Alfred Morris
  • Matt Forte
  • Roddy White
  • Cam Newton
  • Vernon Davis

Can't help but wonder if Jamal Charles would have been the better back to select over Morris, but the Skins are gushing about Morris every day. Forte is steadily underrated, even though he is getting up there in age, he is ready for a huge year.

Team I

  • Ray Rice
  • Chris Johnson
  • Wes Welker
  • Dwayne Bowe
  • Drew Brees

Team I is a team to watch as he has started out in "win now" mode drafting nothing but experienced and aging players on his roster. Rice should still be good for the forseeable future, but Chris Johnson could take a nose dive any year now. It is imperative he infuses this roster with youth in the middle rounds.

Team J

  • Dez Bryant
  • Brandon Marshall
  • Reggie Bush
  • Stevan Ridley
  • Eric Decker

This team is taking a win now and win later approach, which is often times the best way to approach drafting a dynasty team. He has loaded his roster with young guys who are producing already as well as some older players in great situations who are primed for a good next few years.

Team K

  • Jamal Charles
  • Lesean Mccoy
  • Jordy Nelson
  • Andrew Luck
  • Marques Colston

Lucked out with being able to start his squad with Charles and Mccoy. Jordy should be a solid WR for the forseeable future, but that is Cobbs team. Luck is arguably the number 1 dynasty QB.

Team L

  • Arian Foster
  • Marshawn Lynch
  • Vincent Jackson
  • Danny Amendola
  • Colin Kaepernick

A very solid and balanced first 5 picks. He has cornerstone runningbacks that should be good for the next few years as well upside at the WR position and QB spots. Love the start and he has left himself with the ability to take his team in any direction he wants.

Stay Tuned for rounds 5-10
